While main roads, including the Belt Parkway, were in good shape after multiple rounds of plowing, side streets were more uneven.

Snow totals across Bronx and Brooklyn

Snowfall totals continued to climb across parts of New York City over the past 24 hours, with several neighborhoods reporting double-digit accumulations.

The heaviest snow fell across sections of the Bronx and Brooklyn, where persistent bands of snow set up for several hours. In the Bronx, Fordham reported 13.5 inches, while Throgs Neck measured 12.5 inches. Manhattan also saw significant accumulation, with 11.4 inches recorded in Central Park. In Brooklyn, Williamsburg picked up 12 inches of snow, while Crown Heights reported a lower but still impactful 8 inches.

Over at JFK Airport, the storm caused 261 flight cancellations, which is 45% of those flights grounded and 16 delays.

La Guardia Airport isn't looking any better with 233 flights cancelled, which is 44% of their flights grounded and 16 delays.

The FAA will make a determination on whether all flights will be grounded at JFK and La Guardia after 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Subway

Some express trains will make local stops this weekend in preparation for the winter storm. Many planned service changes have been canceled.

Buses

Expect longer waits for local buses. Some buses will be pulled from service to apply snow chains before the storm and removing articulated buses from service during the storm.


NYC Public Schools students will be remote Monday

NYC Emergency Management officials announced that students scheduled to attend school on Monday will be remote.

Public school students in grades six through 12 already have the day off for Professional Development Day.

Elementary school students are preparing for a remote school day.


8 weather-related deaths confirmed in New York City during weekend's winter storm

Authorities confirm that eight weather-related deaths occurred this weekend in New York City.

Police originally discovered five weather-related deaths on Jan. 24.

They say two bodies were discovered in Brooklyn, another was discovered in Queens and two others were discovered in Manhattan.

A sixth body was discovered in Queens around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday

Police have confirmed two more people were found dead, one in The Bronx and the other in Brooklyn.

The deaths occurred amid plummeting temperatures, which prompted a citywide Code Blue alert from Saturday until Tuesday, Jan 27. at 8 a.m.
