Disaster recovery centers for Ida victims operating under new hours
New York City residents still dealing with the aftermath of Ida will be seeing new hours at state-operated disaster recovery centers.
Starting today, the new hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
The centers will be closed on Sundays, but they will be open this coming holiday on Monday.
These disaster recovery centers are meant to provide victims of Ida a place to upload documents and meet with staff and representatives from FEMA, the U.S. Small Business Administration and other federal and state agencies for guidance and help.
Residents in need can find in-person information and assistance with applying for the SBA’s low-interest disaster loans for businesses, nonprofit organizations, homeowners and renters.
However, officials encourage residents to try to use FEMA’s website, mobile app or helpline before visiting a center.
Disaster recovery centers are located at Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn, Hostos Community College in the Bronx, Queens College, and the College of Staten Island.
