Bronx organizations who help domestic violence victims are working together to provide more efficient access to their services.

City Councilman Ritchie Torres says he hopes working together can provide better services like housing and economic independence to abuse victims.

Domestic abuse survivor Lisa Hamner says she was turned away from a domestic violence shelter because she had no children. Since she had nowhere else to go, she says she had to go back to her abusive husband in Brooklyn. Torres says a fear of homeless is why many victims stay with their abusers and he hopes that can be changed.
