During Dominican Heritage Month, the Dominican Writers Association is starting a discussion about the island’s connection to the African diaspora and its history.
In 2015, Angela Abreu decided to form the Dominican Writers Association to highlight Dominican authors.
"My idea was to create a platform where I could give them visibility,” said Abreu.
It has evolved to something so much bigger, even helping authors publish. She is also always connecting with people including CUNY professor Remy Salas.
Now, during Black History Month they wanted to start a discussion. News 12's Kristie Reeter talks with Abreu on why the conversation is so important and how you can join the discussion on Wednesday.
