The Department of Transportation is looking to upgrade an intersection in Mott Haven as part of Mayor Bill de Blasio's "Vision Zero" initiative, aimed at improving traffic-related deaths by 2024.
The agency is hoping to simplify the hexagonal crosswalks at the intersection of Third Avenue and East 143rd Street.
Plans that were released in June propose shortening crosswalks that actually reflect pedestrian trends, among other changes.
There is no word on when the changes may go into effect.
