Sheridan Boulevard, formerly known as Sheridan Expressway, is another step closer to providing easy accessibility for cars, bikes and pedestrians alike.
New York City Department of Transportation Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez was in West Farms on Wednesday joined by elected officials, including Council Member Rafael Salamanca, to unveil new access to Sheridan Boulevard.
The new roads open up the boulevard to the surrounding West Farms neighborhood.
Salamanca called it “a game-changer for the local area,” in terms of access from Sheridan Boulevard directly onto East 172nd and East 173rd streets, as well as vice versa. It connects West Farms with the area across the boulevard, which includes Starlight Park.
This is an ongoing city initiative, adding onto the work the state did turning the Sheridan Expressway into Sheridan Boulevard.
