Residents frustrated by the ongoing road project through the Third Avenue Hub should soon be pleased by the results, according to the city?s Department of Transportation.
DOT officials say the groundwork project on East 149th Street at Willis, Third and Melrose avenues will benefit the community. According to officials, there will be more on-street parking, bike lanes and pedestrian islands. The DOT says the project is a response to the anticipated commercial and residential growth in the area.
The project will also benefit pedestrians. Officials say there will be longer traffic signal times and improved intersections.
The community board says residents can expect the barricades to be cleared and the project to be complete in the next couple of weeks.
