The Department of Transportation proposed Monday redeveloping the busy Fordham Plaza into a commercial hot spot in the borough.
The DOT says more than 80,000 people travel through the area in a day, making the plaza a potentially great location for food and retail sales.
But the proposal also calls for vendors to have a maximum of 29 days on the plaza to give consumers a fresh rotation of choices. It also includes a fresh produce market several times a week.
The DOT says vendors could potentially bring in billions of dollars over time.
