Dozens of people were evacuated after a three-alarm fire ripped through an apartment building in the Bronx Tuesday.
Officials say the fire started inside the Anny Deli and Grocery below a six-story apartment building on 2075 Grand Concourse around 5:45 a.m. They say the fire quickly spread to the top floors of the building as residents were rushed to stairwells and evacuated.
One person was treated on the scene for minor smoke inhalation, but was not injured.
A family with an infant and a child with disabilities confined to a wheelchair were among those evacuated from the fire.
Officials say it took nearly 140 firefighters and about an hour and 45 minutes to get the fire under control. Six firefighters were treated for minor injuries.
It was not immediately clear how many people have been affected or if the building is a total loss.
Officials are still investigating the cause of the blaze. The Red Cross was on the scene to provide aid.
