The driver who backed into a Pelham Bay restaurant last month, crushing a young boy to death, is now blaming a brake malfunction.
According to court documents cited in the Daily News, Kwasi Oduro was trying to park in reverse when he says he hit the brake, which somehow caused the car to accelerate.
Oduro's SUV jumped the curb and slammed into the Kennedy Fried Chicken on Westchester Avenue, pinning 7-year-old Ethan Villavicencio against a wall.
Oduro pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges of leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving and failure to exercise due care.
