As New York City braces for the first major snowstorm of 2022, the city's sanitation department is in full preparation mode.
Sanitation is handling preparations for the potential nor'easter tonight through the weekend with more than 2,000 plows and salt spreaders. It has issued a snow alert starting today at 4 p.m. until Sunday morning with significant snowfall expected across the city.
Workers were out pre-treating the roadways Friday with brine before any real snow accumulates.
Sanitation trucks are expected to turn into snowplows when two inches of snow hit the ground.
The best way of allowing the plows to do their jobs is to say off the roads once the snow starts coming down. For anyone that needs to go out, take it slow as freezing temperatures could result in icy spots.
