Bronx residents in the 77th District are heading to the polls to get an early start on casting their special election ballot for a new assembly member.
Gov. Kathy Hochul announced on Jan. 12 that the special election in the 77th District will fill in a vacancy left by Latoya Joyner, who resigned earlier this month. District 77 covers Claremont, Concourse Village, Highbridge, Mount Eden and Morris Heights.
On the ballot are Democrat Landon Dais and Republican Norman McGill.
Early voting lasts until Sunday, Feb. 11. Election Day is on Tuesday, Feb. 13.
