East Bronx gets community fridge to fight food insecurity

Organized by East Bronx Mutual Aid and the East Bronx Democrats, the new fridge outside of Rivera Deli in Clason Point will provide free food to anyone in the area who needs it.

While over 40 community fridges are listed around New York City, none of them were in the eastern part of the Bronx – until Saturday.
Organized by East Bronx Mutual Aid and the East Bronx Democrats, the new fridge outside of Rivera Deli in Clason Point will provide free food to anyone in the area who needs it.
It will be stocked with fruits and vegetables bought by local businesses.
According to Hunger Free America, one in four Bronx residents is currently facing food insecurity.
