Drivers who crossed the temporary bridge leading to City Island Easter Sunday said it was smooth sailing.
The bridge has caused controversy among the island regulators for its safety and traffic flow. Last month, a minor accident also raised concerns about the bridge's safety.
Easter drivers said they were impressed at how the bridge was holding up.
"I was so impressed with the bridge. I like the way it was constructed, and to think the amount of time they took to put this bridge together. I love the incline as we're coming into City Island, and I think of how the water will flow easily off the bridge, so there's no problem," said Throgs Neck resident Jane Scanlon Frawley.
NYPD officers from other precincts were also in the area on Sunday to oversee the traffic flow.
The Department of Transportation says the project should be done by the end of the year.
