Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. and other city and state officials are calling on Apple to open its next store in the Bronx.
Bronx officials recently penned a letter to Tim Cook, Apple CEO, urging the company to consider the Bronx as a location for a new Apple store, noting there are already 10 Apple stores in New York City and not one of them is in the Bronx.
The letter, which was signed by more than a dozen members of Congress, City Council members, and state senators, read, "Few brands are as recognized and admired as Apple, and an 'Apple Bronx' location would be another signal to the world that The Bronx is open for business. It is time for The Bronx to get its bite of the Apple!"
The letter also suggested multiple locations for the store, including The Mall at Bay Plaza in Co-op City, the Hub on 3rd Avenue and Fordham Road and Kingsbridge, Broadway.
A spokesperson for Apple responded by saying they had no comment about the request.
