A New Jersey woman swiped left on a popular dating app, and now she’s suing.

Sylvia Ciapinska, 38, of Elmwood Park, is suing Tinder after she says she was banned – and someone else is using her photos on the platform, according to the class action filed.

The woman says despite being banned in 2019, a friend sent her a screenshot in 2022 of a profile with her picture under the name “Gloria.” There was a blue check mark on the account. A blue check mark on Tinder means the account underwent the app's photo verification process.

Tinder says while it is a signal that someone is real, it is not a guarantee. The woman says her photos are still being used.

Meanwhile, more than one in 10 dating profiles are fake.
