Forty emergency call boxes have been placed throughout Soundview, Starlight, Pugsley Creek and Concrete Plant parks.
NYPD statistics show relatively low crime numbers in the parks, but elected officials say the boxes are intended for prevention.
Once someone presses the button for help, lights will go off and police will see the exact location through GPS tracking. Cameras showing who made the call will be coming soon.
The boxes are strategically placed throughout each park using statistics from the NYPD and Parks Department.
