Empire City President and COO Ed Domingo is stepping down from his role to become the CEO of a casino chain in Australia, News 12 has learned.
Domingo has overseen operations of the historic casino ever since MGM acquired the property in 2019. The site is considered a leading contender for one of three downstate, full-scale gaming licenses and currently employees about 800 workers from across Westchester, the Bronx and surrounding counties.
Sources tell Senior Reporter Tara Rosenblum that MGM will bring in Louis Theros to step in. Theros is currently the president of MGM Springfield and would oversee both properties.
There are other proposals in the casino license race from The Bronx, Brooklyn, Long Island and Manhattan.
