The expansion to Estella Diggs Park in Morrisania officially opened on Tuesday.

The $2 million expansion adds new pathways, seating areas and play equipment to what used to be vacant space.

Community members and city officials came together Tuesday for a ribbon-cutting to celebrate its completion.

Previously called Rocks and Roots Park, the space was renamed after Estella Diggs, the first African-American woman to represent the Bronx in the New York state Assembly.
