Police are searching for two people who robbed and kidnapped a man in West Farms.
Exclusive surveillance video obtained by News 12 shows the moments a kidnapping and robbery victim escaped early Sunday morning in Hunts Point.
Police say the crime started on Bronx Park Avenue in West Farms. It happened at around 1 a.m. when two men forced a 67-year-old into his own work van at gunpoint.
"Thank God the guy got away, but I hope that the criminals get caught, because this is no good for business,” said Soni, who works nearby.
The victim works at a shipping company. He told police he was taken to multiple locations. News 12 tracked down video of when he was taken to Hunts Point Avenue and Whittier Street.
The video shows the work van pulling up at around 1:09 a.m. One of the suspects gets out of the driver's seat and then makes a run for it— even ducking underneath a truck.
Surveillance video shows one of the suspects crawling underneath a semi-truck parked on the street, before hopping out on the other side, jumping into another car, and taking off.
Minutes later, the victim gets out of the truck. He managed to flag down the police about three miles away from where he was kidnapped.
One woman who lives nearby said she wasn't surprised.
"There's no police presence at night over here,” she said. “This is completely dark after 8 p.m., with the time change, I'm a little concerned. I have a 15-year-old that comes home by herself. There are no lights."
The 67-year-old wasn't hurt, but his cash was stolen. The NYPD says no one has been arrested and they're still trying to figure out what led up to the attack.
