June marks National Safety Month, and to make sure residents are prepared for whenever the next hurricane hits, News 12 sat down with a member of the Red Cross Disaster Relief team.
Lipica Shah, a preparedness health and safety instructor, says the three rules for emergency preparedness are get a supply kit, make a plan and keep informed.
She says a good supply kit has everything from flashlights and first aid items to food and water.
Shah says everyone in the household should also have a plan for evacuation in the event of a hurricane or blizzard.
