Experts give advice for BX allergy sufferers
Bronx residents know that the warm weather brings allergies, and experts have advice on how to minimize the misery.
Experts at the American Academy of Allergy Asthma and Immunology (AAAI) say keeping house and car windows closed is helpful, especially at night. They also say it is best to use air conditioning or a fan with a filter to help trap pollen. They advise allergy sufferers to administer their medicine 30 minutes before going outside. When doing yard work, those with allergies should wear a filter mask.
According to the AAAI, early spring allergies are mainly caused by pollen from trees such as oak, elm and birch, while late spring and summer allergies are triggered by pollinating grasses.
