Over a dozen families living in the Brownsville Houses say they have had no running water since Friday.
The families say they have not been able to cook, bathe or flush their toilets.
One family let News 12 inside their apartment to see the way they have been living. Their facets don’t turn on, toilets don’t flush, and they said they have had to buy their own water just to survive.
Angela Rivers who lives on the sixth floor says she is at her wits end. She has made several calls to New York City Housing Authority’s management office and filled out many online tickets.
Rivers says no one from NYCHA has responded. She fears that it might be the first time in 24 years living there that she won’t be able to make a Christmas dinner for her family.
Families living above the fourth floor in three buildings tell News 12 they have no water. The people below the fourth floor say they have water, but the pressure is low and they fear it will stop all together.
NYCHA responded to News 12 in a statement saying, "NYCHA is working on a low or no water issue affecting the top three floors of this address and have given each of the 18 affected units a 24-pack of bottled water. Staff have also requested a water station to be set up, and residents can use the first-floor slop sink to get water to their apartments while repairs are made. NYCHA will continue to work on this until all residents have water service restored."
