A Bronx family is demanding justice after 18-year-old Juan Pena was shot and killed early Sunday morning in Tremont.
Police said the shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. on Park Avenue near East Tremont Avenue.
New surveillance video from a nearby business showed what is believed to be Pena and another man walking along Park Avenue – then a car drives up and a gunman opens fire.
News 12 was told Pena was attending a party inside of a local mechanic shop. Police said the teen was taken to a local hospital, where he died.
Pena’s family said the victim was shot three times. Loved ones told News 12 that Pena graduated from Bronx Leadership Academy in 2024 and was planning to join the U.S. Navy.
“I just want justice to be done, whoever did this to my nephew,” said Shery Olivo, Pena’s aunt. “It just cannot stay like this. This cannot just be another file that’s going to be a part of the bunch.”
As of Monday evening, police have not released details about a suspect or motive.
