The FDNY says at least one person was injured when an elevator dropped while in use Monday morning in Greenwood.
Authorities say there were at least two dozen people inside the freight elevator when it suddenly collapsed and fell several floors.
The incident occurred inside a six-story structure at 86 34th St. The FDNY received a 911 call around 10:05 a.m.
The FDNY says one of the people inside the elevator at the time is an NYPD detective. He was taken to a hospital after telling first responders he was experiencing minor back pain.
No other injuries have been reported at this time.
