A 71-year-old man is dead, and a 31-year-old woman is in critical condition after a fire tore through a home in East Flatbush early Friday morning. Police say the fire started around 4 a.m.
News 12 crews were on the scene capturing footage of the house that was visibly badly damaged.
“It’s so sorrowful,” said Olive McLeod, a neighbor.
Angela Brathwite, who lives across the street from the fire, reported smelling smoke and seeing flames from her window.
The Red Cross is providing emergency assistance to five adults from the home. The FDNY says the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
