Men and women from the city’s fire department are getting ready to take on new roles all across the agency after being recognized for their hard work and dedication.
Roughly 100 FDNY members were promoted on Tuesday, including Richard Bracken, a 23-year EMS veteran based in Coney Island who was sworn into his new role as EMS division chief.
“For my future endeavors, to all our future endeavors, to protect the city of New York, it’s an amazing experience,” said Bracken. “To help and lead other EMTs and paramedics is one of the most extraordinary privileges I’ve ever had.”
Family and FDNY colleagues cheered on those who received their oaths in the ceremony, with most of those promotions taking place in the fire and EMS divisions.
“When you begin your new roles, remember that you are setting the examples for those who look up to you,” said FDNY Chief of Department John Hodgens.
Several of these recently promoted FDNY members will start their new ranks at divisions citywide, with others already hard at work in their new positions.
