Fire officials responded to 313 E. 194th St. around 9:45 a.m. for a report of a medical emergency.
The NYPD says officers responded to the location to a call regarding an 81-year-old mail who needed aid. The 81-year-old was found unconscious and unresponsive.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. At this time, police do not suspect any criminality.
Law enforcement officials say the victim was found by a neighbor of the building. They say that the victim appeared to have signs on his fingertips of being electrocuted.
The investigation is ongoing.
