WHAT TO KNOW:
  • It's dry during the daytime today
  • At least 3 inches of snow is expected, totals will be higher for Bronx
  • It's not just snow! Sleet and freezing rain will mix in after midnight. It'll make the snow accumulation look lower, but it'll make it more slippery
  • Storm #2 brings some snow Tuesday night into Wednesday. Colder setup, but less moisture so less certainty this will happen
  • Storm #3 Thursday. Looks warmer, but still some winter weather in the morning
  • Storm #4? Yet another chance for winter weather next weekend. Too early for details on this
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect tonight and will remain in effect until 9 a.m. tomorrow morning. Winter driving conditions are expected as early as 7 p.m. tonight and could linger through early Sunday morning before conditions improve.
Today is overcast, with temperatures near freezing. Enough cold air is in place for snow accumulations to begin quickly when flurries arrive after 6 p.m. A burst of heavy snow starts as early as 7 p.m. and lingers through 2 a.m. Then, a wintry mix will bring slippery conditions early Sunday morning. Lingering snow flurries are possible after sunrise, with only minor accumulations.
The forecast is dry for Sunday afternoon and dry conditions continue for Monday and Tuesday morning. Temperatures will be cold, with highs in the 30s and lows in the 20s.
The next storm arrives Tuesday night. It's a colder setup, but there's also more dry air. We expect some impacts for the Wednesday morning commute, but the snow totals look lower than the weekend storm.
A third storm arrives Thursday. This storm is stronger but also warmer. Winter weather conditions are possible with an icy mix of rain or freezing rain in spots in the morning, but currently, we are not expecting a plain snowstorm.
Next weekend will bring another storm. It's too early to give details because the arrival of this storm is dependent on how the next three storms shape up. Stay tuned for the details.
