The NCAA’s Final Four is set for this weekend and you never know who's going to star in that one shining moment. It could be a face from a New Jersey basketball court near you.
Michael O'Connell finished high school at Blair Academy in Blairstown and now he's part of that unlikely run for North Carolina state. He scores just six points a game. But he's played in every game, including a hot streak in the conference tournament as he heaved this dramatic three off glass to keep the dream alive, setting the state for Saturday. They play Purdue.
On the other side, it's Alabama’s Aaron Estrada, a starter who scores 13 points a game with five rebounds. He played for Woodbury in Gloucester County and then Saint Benedict's Prep. He started college at Saint Peter's. He is up against mighty UConn.
And Samson Johnson, who played some of his high school ball at the Patrick School, could probably hit his head on the rim with every dunk. He’s best known for defense. He also gets almost a block a game — 34 blocks in 38 games.
And his coach, Jersey City's Dan Hurley. A famous basketball family. Of course, he played for dad at Saint Anthony’s.
