Firefighters rushed to battle a massive fire in East Flatbush Tuesday that jumped between buildings and displaced families.

It broke out around 4:30 p.m. on the second level of a four-story building on Linden Boulevard, between East 53rd and 54th streets, officials say. Then the flames spread next door, according to authorities.

The FDNY says firefighters responded within two minutes and quickly put out the flames.

Resident Chris Boston says he climbed down a fire escape with his baby daughter.

"I heard people screaming," he says. "So I grab my daughter and went to my front door. As soon as I open the front door, it's completely blocked. So we turned around."

Boston says neighbors and complete strangers alike helped one another escape, and officials say no one was hurt.
