A fast-moving fire tore through Butler’s historic Main Street, forcing nearly a dozen people from their homes and leaving families and business owners facing an uncertain road ahead.

In just a matter of hours, flames engulfed multiple businesses along the downtown corridor, damaging roofs, windows and the heart of the town’s historic district.

"It's heartbreaking to see that…this is your livelihood. To see something like that happen is really sad," said Red Parlour Tattoo and Piercing owner Redd O’Toole about the devastation.

No one was injured, but the Red Cross is helping nearly a dozen residents affected by the fire. More than 24 hours later, boarded windows, collapsed roofs and other damage made it clear that there will be a long road to recovery.

"The News & Candy just put up a new awning a couple weeks ago. We were in there. I know the father, I know the son, they have a grandson now. In a town like this, you become very connected—like family," said O'Toole.

Community support is already taking shape. Butler United Methodist Church is using social media to collect gift cards, food and clothing for those in need, turning posts into real, tangible help.

"Something happens—a tragedy happens—and people jump in to ask, ‘What can I do to help?’ That’s the nature of a community," said Christopher Miller, owner of Traditional Okinawan Karate.

Miller and other local businesses are organizing fundraisers. T-shirt sales, donation drives and special classes at his karate studio will benefit local first aid squads and food banks, providing vital resources for families affected by the fire.

As neighbors come together, residents along Main Street are determined to make sure this fire marks a new beginning rather than an end.

"Support Main Street, let’s be Butler Strong and bring everything back. This is really the time that we need you," O’Toole said.

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire, but for now, the focus remains on rebuilding and supporting the community.
