People lined the streets of the Bronx Saturday in an effort to promote green space and access to the waterfront in the borough.
The 14th annual Fish Parade was held at Hunts Point Riverside Park with replica fish mounted atop cars and children dressed up as mermaids and pirates marching through the streets.
The parade was originally established to protest the Fulton Fish Market moving into Hunts Point because organizers say that brought more trucks and pollution into the community.
Organizers say now the parade has become a promotion of green space and access to waterfronts in low-income communities.
They say the parade's theme was the message, "We are the roots of resiliency."
Advocates have been working hard to come up with a resiliency plan for the Hunts Point peninsula in case of another devastating hurricane like Superstorm Sandy.
