A Fleetwood woman says she has seen multiple neighbors throw their garbage out their window, creating a massive pile of trash.
Babette has lived in her apartment on Webster Avenue for 11 years. In all that time, she's been forced to deal with the eyesore.
“I can’t open my windows, especially in the summer, in the summer there’s no way I’m opening the windows, the smell the mosquitos," said Babette.
Babette tells News 12 the people who live in the building behind hers on Clay Avenue are to blame.
“This is people just throwing it out instead of putting it where it belongs," she says.
Recent video taken on Tuesday night shows a man on the top floor tossing a wooden door over his balcony.
News 12 was given access to the building directly next door to the garbage.
“For the mayor to stress the issue with the rodent situation and then see this, this is why its perpetual," said Matik, the super of the building adjacent to the trash.
A spokesperson for DSNY explains that since it's private property, the problem is out of their jurisdiction. The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene has not responded to a request for a comment.
