Food Bank for New York City says it has been working to meet the need of those with cultural and religious diet restrictions.
The Food Bank says halal and kosher foods can be more expensive when it comes to proteins as inflation affects food supplies.
Leslie Gordon, the president and CEO of Food Bank for New York City, says demand for these items has been high year-round, not just during religious holidays.
“All year long we are delivering millions upon millions of pounds of good nutritious culturally and religiously relevant foods across the five boroughs....and the Food Bank very much wants to provide food choices that are reflective of the communities that we service,” Gordon says.
