Shipping companies are facing a busy holiday season, and News 12 The Bronx got an inside look at how FedEx is handling the annual rush.
Officials at the FedEx shipping center on East 132nd Street in Port Morris say it begins on Black Friday.
From that point on, more than 200 employees sort about 6,000 packages an hour.
The company says it expects to deliver 325 million packages worldwide during just four weeks. Part of that number is due to a spike in online shopping this year.
And even though the rush began in November, the company says the busiest period is from Dec. 19 to Dec. 24, when people order rush deliveries for late gifts.
