The Concourse House in Fordham is turning the page on what's expected when it comes to shelters for women and children.
Julie and Kate Yaymin, with the help of facility managers, Michael K. Chen Architecture and the Sisters Uptown Book Store, helped orchestrate the final product: a library filled with about 600 books.
The Concourse House is a transitional shelter for families coming out of homelessness. Organizers say they mostly work with women with children and call the library a welcome addition.
Organizers say the library plans to add even more books to its shelves in the near future.
