Students are back on campus at Fordham University and are celebrating their arrival at the school’s 30th annual Urban Plunge weekend in Fordham Plaza.
The celebration is part of the pre-orientation program and lasts for three days. School supervisors say its goal is to connect incoming freshmen with their local community in the Bronx.
Around 200 freshmen moved in early to take part in the Urban Plunge program. Students take part in events over the three-day stretch, including a back-to-school festival that provides essential school supplies and services to families in the Bronx.
The university wrapped up the fun with a concert that celebrated the 50th anniversary of hip-hop to honor the genre in its birthplace of the Bronx.
