Education officials announced Thursday that the Foreign Language Academy of Global Studies may be closing.
Department of Education officials say they plan to close the school in a few months due to persistently low enrollment and performance issues. The school currently has 101 students in grades 9-12, making it the fourth-lowest enrolled high school in the city.
In addition, officials say only 2 percent of graduating students are ready for college. Parents will receive a letter about the proposed closure.
The plan still needs to be approved in April by the Panel for Education Policy. The DOE will also host a public hearing to hear any concerns that residents may have.
