Former Yankees All-Star CC Sabathia hosts free camp in Tremont
Former Yankees All-Star CC Sabathia hosted a free camp in Tremont Saturday to support the mission of his PitCCh in Foundation, an initiative to enrich the lives of inner-city youth with sports and athletics.
The camp included children from grades 1-8.
“It's super important for me to always be here in the Bronx,” said Sabathia. “I see myself in these kids, and they can see themselves in me."
The young players appeared to enjoy themselves as they ran through pitching drills.
“It was amazing, it was kind of scary because I didn't want it mess up in front of him,” said one attendee. “It was an experience that I don't think I’d ever forget.”
Sabathia hopes the event will inspire children to take an interest in sports.
