Free high-speed Internet access is coming to several public housing developments across the city.
The program called Connect Home is part of President Barack Obama's initiative to provide free broadband service nationwide to families in low-income communities.
Through the federal program, tenants at Mott Haven Houses will be able to connect to the Internet at no charge.
Mott Haven Houses is one of five public housing developments in the city that will be part of the program.
Those who already have wireless service in their homes can chose free Wi-Fi instead.
The program is expected to benefit about 30,000 city students and 15,000 families across the city.
