Weddings have been canceled, rescheduled and relocated because of the pandemic, but one bridal salon is doing their best to make sure those future brides don't miss their time to say yes to the dress.
Lotus Bridal in Sheepshead Bay is still providing some of that bridal magic, albeit online, through digital appointments.
"We're able to see how their bodies are because we can see our brides through Zoom, so we're able to kind of guide them through which silhouette would work with their bodies," says Lotus Bridal owner Wendy Kyon.
The brides get a catalog of gowns in their inventory before their appointment, then when the time comes, they can pick which they want to see. Someone at the store then puts a dress on a manikin so they can see how it looks.
Lotus Bridal says it's not only a silver lining in these tough times, but also a necessity for some who have decided to wed from home. For others who are still planning to get married later this year, it's helping keep their wedding on track.
"Brides are just so grateful that they're able to have some sort of control and some sort of normalcy even though the environment right now is just chaotic," says Kyon.
