Soaking up some culture and taking in the sights at a Riverdale garden is costing drivers more money.People who visited the Wave Hill community garden and cultural center used to park for free along Independence Avenue, but traffic officers started giving them tickets last year. In response, the garden started letting people park at its lot for $8.
Some drivers complain paying $8 to spend a few hours is unfair.
The garden also runs shuttles from three locations. They include the nearby 1 train stop, a free lot down the hill from the garden and the nearby Metro-North station.
Other garden patrons say this is the first time the garden has been so accessible to everyone. They welcome the new traffic change, saying Independence Avenue isn't as narrow and clogged as it used to be.
