The girl who was hospitalized after being struck by a car in Morris Park Wednesday is expected to be OK, according to officials.
The girl was walking with her brother at the intersection of Colden and Morris Park avenues when authorities say an elderly woman struck her. Earlier reports indicated that both children, aged 8 and 10, had been struck.
The driver remained at the scene.
Witnesses from a nearby hair salon say the girl appeared shaken up after the incident. They kept her inside out of the rain until an ambulance arrived.
"I think she just got out of school because she had a backpack on," says Edith Conato, of Just For Looks Hair Salon. "There wasn't anyone else with her except her brother."
Conato also says she's not sure whether the brother accompanied his injured sister on the ambulance ride.
