As New York's COVID-19 infection rate ticks up, Gov. Andrew Cuomo says he will be deploying more National Guard troops to airports for COVID-19 enforcement.

Cuomo says he wants people to know how serious he is about enforcing new test entry restrictions ahead of the holiday season. Travelers are being asked to have proof they recently tested negative for COVID-19.

Passengers flying into New York are required to have a taken a COVID-19 test that came back negative within three days of boarding the plane. Failure to comply comes with a mandatory 14-day quarantine.

Within three days after arrival, travelers must also receive a second negative test as well to avoid the quarantine.

The governor says New York's COVID-19 infection rate has ticked up to 1.9%. Downstate is doing better than upstate in terms of figures at this point, a reversal of the first phase of the pandemic.

He also says he spoke with New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio about enhancing NYPD presence in city airports as well.
