Gov. Kathy Hochul met with local leaders and trailblazers to discuss an expansion of services to tackle the mental health and addiction crisis.
The roundtable discussion aimed to shed light on the services that places like VIP Community Services in the Bronx are offering to those in need – including a new mobile medication unit that serves patients citywide.
"This place here treats over 7,000 people a year it's one of the largest opiod treatment faacilities in the state and again it is all about the integrated care. That there is not one size fits all, that you come here for one service and you'd go there for another. It's all under one roof,” said Gov. Hochul.
The governor is looking to expand accessibility by providing $3.5 million in conditional funding for 13 new clinics just like VIP Community Services across the state – doubling the number of clinics statewide.
