New York state says New Yorkers can still expect to receive their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits starting Sunday.
A spokesperson for Gov. Kathy Hochul says New York has not received any updated guidance from the United States Department of Agriculture.
The announcement comes after the United States Supreme Court issued an emergency order to block full SNAP food aid payments.
The Trump administration plans to send out partial payments amid the ongoing government shutdown.
Hochul said New York would cover the full cost of SNAP benefits as early as Sunday.
The spokesperson says Hochul's office will continue to monitor the situation as it evolves.
