Officials unveiled a new affordable housing complex Thursday.
The South Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation held a ribbon-cutting for the Belmont Commons at 499 East 188th St.
The corporation, also known as SoBRO, developed 40 units that showcase green energy features.
The development transformed two vacant lots into nearly 40,000 square feet of living space for about $14.3 million.
To qualify for the affordable housing units, potential tenants cannot earn more than 80 percent of the area's median income.
Additionally, 15 percent of the units are reserved for formerly homeless families.
SoBRO says it has several more similar projects in the works.
