Christ Church Greenwich needs volunteers to help package more than $12,000 in donations collected for war-torn Ukraine.
The church is calling the event their 'emergency pack-a-thon' and they say volunteers of all ages are welcome to help.
The event will take place Saturday at the Christ Church Parish Hall, 254 East Putnam Ave., at 10 a.m.
Organizers say the value of food and supplies totals $12,600.
Organizers are also hoping for some monetary donations as well to help cover some of the expenses for the more than 36,000 packages.
Packages include nutritional meals for Ukrainian refugees on the border of Poland and include four complete nutritious ingredients: a carbohydrate, dehydrated vegetables, vitamin powder and a bean protein into individual packages.
The church says the packages are a simple, organized, and cost-effective way to feed children and families who have fled their homes.
The church worked in coordination with the Ukrainian Cultural Center in New Jersey.
Organizers say once packaged, the meals will be transported to the docks, packed into a container, and loaded onto a ship headed to Gdansk, Poland.
