Group holds shredding event to prevent identity theft
The young and the old were encouraged to come to the Christian Cultural Center on Wednesday to help prevent identity theft.
AARP New York helped attendants shred sensitive documents that include Social Security Numbers and birth dates.
The organization says many people are concerned about identity theft, particularly seniors who are most vulnerable to scams.
Security experts recommend shredding anything that has personal information – including account numbers, passwords or PINS, canceled or unused checks and ATM or credit card receipts.
